The BioDynamic Vortex system is the light weight version of the Vortex. The BDV has been developed for the Amercian market with our partner company Restorative Technologies. It is especially suited for larger industrial applications, and is the only flowform of substantial size and capacity that is portable. The BDV consist of 3 or more tiers of the light-weight Vortex skin, developed by John Wilkes and associates. The “skins” are mounted onto a rack that is foldable and portable. The BDV comes with a mixing basin and a Tsurumi effluent pump. The light weight Vortex has been used extensively for mixing BioDynamic Preps, and we promote the use of this technology over industrial stirring machines. The water flows through dual-rotating vortices which alternate before falling into the Chaos Chamber (top of the flowform). This pattern fulfills the fluid-mechanics indicated by Rudolf Steiner in the stirring of the Biodyanmic preparations. However, in the use of this application we advise the user to consider the following conversation with Rudolf Steiner from the Agriculture Lectures (First Discussion, second question):

”Is it all right to use a machine to stir the manure for larger areas, or is that not permissible?

(Steiner) Well, you can either be quite strict about things like that, or you can decide to gradually slide toward surrogates. There's no question that stirring by hand has quite a different significance than mechanical stirring, although some one with a mechanistic world-view would never admit it. Just consider what a huge difference there is: when you stir by hand all the fine movements of your hand go into the stirring, and quite possibly all kinds of other things do too, including the feelings you have as you stir.”

It should be noted that flowform stirring is mediated by natural processes, though assisted by the mechanism of a pump. Where a flowform mixer differs from a mixing machine is that the flowform is also a work of art- and in that lies the subtle quality of the human soul that is the essence of Biodynamic Agriculture. The BDV, however does contain the possibility of widgetization- the ability for one to place it in the garage with the other tools, insert the ingredients, turn it on, and walk away. Consider this in your application of this dynamic technology.
